How Wilson Got His Name

We usually go for coffee names for our chocolate Labs, but we mulled over a dozen and nothing seemed to sit quite right. Joshua & I were reading over the names in his ancestry. When he heard that his great-grampa’s name was “Run Forest Run”, otherwise known as “Gump” (a reference to the Tom Hanks movie Forest Gump), he said, “How about Wilson?” If you’ve never seen the Tom Hanks movie Cataway, one of our favorite and funniest lines from the movie is Tom Hanks yelling for his only “companion” on an abandoned island (a Wilson brand volleyball named Wilson) ~ “Wilson! Come back!” Wilson also means “the son of Will”. Hence, his name is a throwback to his dad (HRCH Big Mamou’s One Eyed Willie MH “Willie”), his great-grampa (7x GRHRCH UH HOF Big Mamou's Run Forest Run MH, MNH9 HOF), and his retrieving lines (come back). The name Wilson also means: loving, industrious, intelligent companion.
